Macrame Artist of the Month: Ian Lander

by Macrame

I recently came across the site of macrame artist Ian Lander, based out of New Jersey. Ian’s work is inspired by his travels through South America and Costa Rica. His macrame bracelets and necklaces are modern, bold and gorgeous! He uses natural minerals and semi-precious gems in his designs. See more of his macrame work visit his website:  Ian Lander

About the Artist Ian Lander:

“This work is the direct result of years of my life traveling, teaching, and working in Central and South America. While teaching fourth grade in Costa Rica, I began to study traditional methods of metalworking and macrame. I subsequently traveled to Peru where I furthered my education.
I have always been enamored with natural minerals and fossils, and these materials often serve as inspiration for the pieces to be created. All of my pieces are handmade, and feature genuine semiprecious stones.  My goal is to use time-honored techniques in the service of contemporary craft and fashion, to bridge between ancient art and modern style. I aim to create pieces as beautiful and unique as the people who will wear them.”

This gorgeous piece retails for $350 on Ian's site.

Ian crafts fine art macrame bracelets and necklaces using gemstones. He also works in metal, creating one of a kind pieces.
